School Governance
On behalf of the Governing Body, I am delighted to welcome you to the Governor section of the school website. We’d like to thank you for showing an interest in Snodland Church of England School where we all strive for each member of our community to 'Live life to the full to the glory of god'. We hope that through the pages and different features of our website, you will be able to get a real understanding of what a special place Snodland Church of England School is.
At Snodland CEP School we believe that every child is unique and that all of our children have God-given talents that it is our duty to nurture and develop so that each and every one of them have the opportunity to shine and succeed. Along with their individual talents, our distinctively Christian Values and Keys to Learning allow all of our children to leave us as outstanding citizens of this world, who are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to open the doors to a world of opportunities and possibilities. Governors are very proud to work with Mrs. Hunt and her staff, the children and parents/carers to enable children to be prepared for the next stage of their education.
Our governing body consists of a diverse group of people and the different skillset that each governor brings to the group allows us to effectively support and challenge the leadership team as a ‘critical friend’. Governors meet as a full governing body six times a year to discuss and question strategic aspects of the school to support improvement. Some governors also meet as part of a separate resources committee, chaired by Mr Oliver Allen, to consider aspects relating to health and safety, finance and staffing in more detail before reporting back to the full board. All governors also have key responsibilities and carry out monitoring regularly throughout the school year to support school improvement towards its strategic aims.
Our core responsibilities as governors are:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent
How our governing body is structured:
- 7 foundation governors
- 1 local authority governor
- 2 parent governors
- 1 headteacher governor
- 1 staff governor
- 4 associate governors
We hope that you find the information on this website useful but please do not hesitate to contact the school office should you require any further information.
