Music

At Snodland Church of England Primary School, we value the importance of the music curriculum and the skills embedded within this curriculum, which helps to prepare children for life beyond primary school. Our music curriculum follows the Model Music Curriculum and is carefully planned by our Music Leader to introduce our children to the joy of learning music.

Throughout the school, children are introduced to a wide range of musical styles to enable them to appreciate and build up a comprehensive musical understanding. Children learn to read and use musical notation from Year 2 upwards.

Children in Year 4 have whole-class instrument lessons taught by our Music Leader throughout the school year. This year, the children will be learning the ukelele. Children are able to take these instruments home to practise and their instrumental skills are used in our curriculum in Years 5 and 6.

Our school choir perform in worship throughout the year. This year, the choir have entered the Christmas Carol competition organised by Churches Together in Medway. They are also busy preparing for the Medway schools performance in March. Our KS1 choir love singing different songs and perform in worship throughout the year.
